TRACKS

Official SMathHacks 2025 tracks.

Theme: Space & Aeronautics

Think of these as “impact areas” to help focus your ideation process.

Web & Mobile Applications

The Web and Mobile Applications track is centered around the creation of websites and apps that include interactive components. This track invites participants to develop games, tracking tools, platforms for information dissemination, and more. Projects may involve designing user interfaces, allowing multi-user interactions, optimizing user experiences, and overall education to the general public. For those interested in front-end and back-end development, this track is for you! Any project which includes a webpage falls under this category.

Example Projects

Hardware

The Hardware track involves projects with physical components, such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and other electronic devices or mechanical builds. In this track, participants can work with tangible, real-world elements to create innovative gadgets or systems. This would be suitable for those who enjoy hands-on work with electronics and robotics, or even those who want to learn how to use and build projects with hardware.

Example Projects

Explanatory Modeling & Computational Science

The Explanatory Modeling and Computational Science track is geared toward using data analytics and simulations to solve scientific problems or model complex systems. It involves working with big data to visualize trends, analyzing descriptive statistics, creating both simulations and visualizations of the outcomes or behaviors. This track hones in on utilizing but not manipulating data, where no predictions are made. This track is aimed for professionals in the field of aerospace, where projects can facilitate their career tasks.

Example Projects

AI & Machine Learning

The AI and Machine Learning track revolves around the development of predictive algorithms that can learn from data, make predictions, and improve over time without being explicitly programmed. It includes areas like natural language processing, computer vision, and predictive analytics. This track involves making predictions with data, regardless of the presence of visualizations.  This track is perfect for those passionate about data science and algorithm development!
